Adobe has taken a major step in enhancing its creative tools by launching the Firefly AI-powered video generator. This new technology aims to provide more advanced features for popular Adobe applications like Photoshop, Illustrator, Adobe Express, and Premiere Pro. The Firefly Video Model is designed to give users more power and flexibility, allowing them to create videos and extend clips with ease.
Ely Greenfield, Chief Technology Officer for Adobe’s Digital Media, expressed excitement over the launch. “The use of Firefly in our creative apps has been a huge success, and it’s inspiring to see how creators are pushing boundaries with it,” Greenfield said. “We’re excited to offer even more tools for creation, all made to be safe for commercial use.”
New Tools for Video Creation
The highlight of this release is the Generative Extend tool for Premiere Pro, now available in beta. This tool allows users to extend video clips by up to two seconds at either 720p or 1080p, with 24 frames per second (FPS). It also includes an option to enhance audio by extending sound effects for up to ten seconds, offering users more creative control over their projects.
In addition to Premiere Pro, Adobe is also introducing two new tools for video creation on the web: Text-to-Video and Image-to-Video. These tools are part of a limited public beta available through the Firefly web app.
How to Access Firefly’s New Features
For now, those interested in testing these features will need to join the waitlist to access the public beta. During this period, video generations will be free. However, Adobe has stated that more details about pricing and availability will be shared once the tools are fully launched.
Competition in the AI Video Space
The launch of Adobe’s Firefly AI video generator comes just weeks after Meta introduced its own AI-powered video creation tool, called Movie Gen. Meta’s tool allows users to create 16-second video clips with AI-generated audio based on simple text prompts. As competition in the AI video generation space heats up, it will be interesting to see how both companies evolve their offerings.
For now, Adobe continues to push its Firefly AI tools as a way to empower creators, promising more updates and features as the beta progresses.
